About Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure designed specifically to invoke the healing response in your skin by causing microtrauma in a targeted way. This skin care treatment uses SkinPen Precision’s Microneedling system featuring a small head that contains 10+ microneedles (vs. needles), which vibrate at a certain depth, to pierce the superficial layer of the skin. This process naturally begins to remodel as it stimulates your skin to increase collagen and elastin formation. Not only does it boost collagen production, but delivers dramatic results in rejuvenation and restoration.  The outcomes are impressive.

Benefits of this procedure range from reducing scarring, pigmentation, fine lines, improving the texture of your skin and exfoliating. Our practitioner recommends microneedling every 4-6 weeks until desired results are achieved. To avoid discomfort during treatment a topical anesthetic may be applied.   • 1. Avoid direct sunlight 24 hours prior to your treatment.

    2. Discontinue the use of Retin-A products at least 12 hours prior to your treatment.

  • 1. Immediately after treatment, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warmer and tighter than usual.

    2. Avoid direct sunlight 24-48 hours after your treatment. It is recommended to use sunscreen with an SPF 30 or greater. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly suggested.

    3. Please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup.

    4. Plan for professional and social downtime.

    5. Moisturize following your treatment to help soothe, calm and protect the skin at least 2 times per day over the next 3-5 days.

    6. For at least 3 days post-treatment, do not use any Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol, Vitamin A, Vitamin C or anything perceived as active skincare.

    7. Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.

    8. No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating could be harmful, spread bacteria, and may cause adverse reactions.

  • Successful microneedling requires a quality post-treatment protocol. Your aim is to create the right environment for up to 90 days post treatment.

    • For the 1st 24 hours use absolutely nothing

    • Next day: Rescue Calming Complex (a gel containing colloidal oatmeal, vitamin B3 and aloe)

    Microneedling aftercare should include at the least the following:

    • A purifying skin cleaner to remove makeup, sunscreen and surface oils.

    • Fortifying Vitamin C serum- antioxidant to combat the appearance of prematurely aging skin

    • Moisturizer for hydrating support with essential nutrients and vitamins

    • Zinc Oxide sunscreen such as Elta MD

    Be sure to read the ingredients of the topicals you have at home, as they can limit the benefits of microneedling treatments. Your products should be:

    • Silicone free

    • Artificial color free

    • Sodium lauryl sulphate free

    • Chemical sunscreen free

    • Dimethicone free

    • Artificial fragrance free

    • Propylene glycol free

    • Paraben free

    REMEMBER: Be sure to apply sunscreen every day. Sunscreen should contain Zinc Oxide-which provides effective sun protection to protect sensitive skin post-microneedling.
